A native of Jackson, MS, Nakia Stokes is the author of the inspirational novella UNBOUND. The book chronicles the challenges of individuals not too different from ourselves who are forced to recognize their weaknesses and look for real strength outside of themselves.
Like her characters,Nakia has suffered a number of tragedies during her childhood, including sexual abuse. God has allowed her to rise above the hurt and turn the pain into power. He has brought her from tragedy to triumph, and after the storm she was able to focus on her passion: Writing.Kia's literary mission is to give God the glory while addressing real life issues with a touch of spiritual humor and to offer the way to a victorius life through Jesus Christ. Her work demonstrates and promotes the importance of salvation, healing, deliverance, the power of forgiveness, unconditional love, and healthy relationships.
She spends most of her time with her loving husband, bonding with her daughter and serving the community with the sophisticated women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Upsilon Upsilon Omega Chapter. Along with her husband, she is also Co-President of the married couples ministry at Cathedral A.M.E. Zion Church in Jackson, MS.
